Introduction
Saturday is doing a lot of heavy lifting in the Oklahoma City metro this week. The State Fair closes out its run, Yukon throws its annual Monarch Festival, downtown picks up its own Oktoberfest and a free concert at Scissortail Park, and Myriad Gardens hosts a festival worth showing up for. Here is what is on my radar for September 21 through 27.
The State Fair Closes Out Sunday
The Oklahoma State Fair wraps its run this Sunday, September 27, at the Fairgrounds. It has been ten days of corn dogs, livestock barns, and a midway lit up every night, and if you have not made it out yet, this is the week, not next year. (OK State Fair)
Yukon's Monarch Festival Welcomes Fall
Mollie Spencer Farm in Yukon hosts its Monarch Festival this Saturday, September 26, from 9am to noon. It is free, but registration is required ahead of time. Expect monarch themed crafts, seed ball making, and a morning outside before the heat comes back. If you are anywhere near Yukon, this is exactly the kind of small town Saturday that makes people fall for that community in the first place. (MetroFamily Magazine)
OKC Oktoberfest Turns Downtown Into A Bar Crawl
This one is not a beer garden, it is a bar crawl. OKC Oktoberfest checks in at Whiskey Chicks, 115 East Reno Avenue, this Saturday, September 26, with check in running from 4 to 10pm. Grab a wristband and expect beer, food, and live music all night at the participating bars. Tickets are limited, so it is not a walk up and decide kind of night. (PubCrawls.com)
Russell Dickerson Plays Scissortail Park, Free
CU in the Park brings Russell Dickerson to the Great Lawn at Scissortail Park this Saturday, September 26, at 7pm, and it is free. Bring a blanket and get there early, these shows fill in fast. (Scissortail Park)
Down Syndrome Festival And 5K Fills Myriad Gardens
The Down Syndrome Festival and 5K takes over Myriad Gardens this Saturday, September 26. It is a community turnout for a good reason, and a nice reminder of what this city shows up for on a Saturday morning. (DSACO)
Let's Just Tell It Like It Is
I get to call this city home and help people buy and sell in it. Best job there is. If any of this has you thinking about what is next, whether that is buying, selling, or just figuring out your options, I’ll listen first, then we’ll figure out the plan together. You don’t have to be an expert on any of it. That’s my job.
