Introduction
Saturday is basically three parties at once in Oklahoma City metro this week, and there are a couple of numbers worth knowing too if you’re anywhere near a buying or selling decision. Pumpkinville opens downtown, the Asian District throws its Night Market Festival, Yukon turns 60, and Historic Capitol Hill has its own celebration the same weekend. Here is what is on my radar for September 28 through October 4.
Pumpkinville Opens Thursday At Myriad Gardens
Pumpkinville opens this Thursday, October 1, at Myriad Gardens and runs through October 25. Downtown fills up with thousands of pumpkins, a “Road to Route 66” theme with murals of the Blue Whale and Cadillac Ranch, and unlimited carousel rides included with admission. It stays open for weeks, but Thursday is your first shot at it before the weekend crowds show up. (OKC Fox)
The Asian Night Market Festival Takes Over Classen Boulevard
The Asian Night Market Festival runs Friday and Saturday, October 2 and 3, along Classen Boulevard in the Asian District. It is free to attend, with more than 100 vendors, a K Pop dance competition, a lion dance, and food from all over. Last year’s crowd hit 80,000 people, so if you are anywhere near the Asian District that weekend, plan around it. (Hoodline)
Yukon's Oklahoma Czech Festival Turns 60
Yukon’s Oklahoma Czech Festival hits its 60th year the same weekend, October 2 and 3. Main Street shuts down for a parade with more than 80 floats, volunteers hand make over 25,000 kolaches, and organizers are expecting 30,000 people. If you have ever wondered what small town charm looks like fifteen minutes from a growing metro, this is it. Get there early, parking fills fast. (Hoodline)
Historic Capitol Hill Hosts Fiestas De Las Américas
Historic Capitol Hill hosts its Fiestas de las Américas parade and street festival on Saturday, October 3. Expect live entertainment, art, and pop up markets along Calle Dos Cinco, all celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. It is one of the best reminders that this city’s character runs a lot deeper than downtown. (Visit OKC)
Mortgage Rates Climb To 7.36 Percent
Mortgage rates climbed again this week, with the 30 year fixed now averaging 7.36 percent, up from 7.09 percent last week. If you are shopping right now, that jump matters more than the headline number by itself. It is worth a real conversation about your options before you assume you are priced out. (Forbes Advisor)
Our Own Market Tells A Calmer Story
Our own metro numbers tell a calmer story than the national headlines. The average sale price is sitting around $270,000, down slightly from a year ago, homes are staying on the market longer at about 60 days, and inventory is up almost 9 percent (Redfin data, August 2026, via News 9). Buyers have more room to negotiate than they did last year, and sellers need a real pricing strategy, not just a sign in the yard.
Let's Just Tell It Like It Is
I get to call this city home and help people buy and sell in it. Best job there is. If any of this has you thinking about what is next, whether that is buying, selling, or just figuring out your options, I’ll listen first, then we’ll figure out the plan together. You don’t have to be an expert on any of it. That’s my job.
