Introduction
There is a new project finally moving on the north side, a German festival without the drive to Tulsa, and a second shot at the zoo if you missed opening weekend. There is also a new spot in north Edmond and a number worth knowing if you are anywhere near a buying or selling decision. Here is what is on my radar for October 12 through October 18.
The Old Holiday Inn On N Robinson Is Becoming Apartments
The City Council approved turning the former Holiday Inn at 6200 N Robinson Ave into multifamily apartments this week. The project had been held up over concerns about losing tree canopy to the parking layout, the developer cut the parking count and added green space, and it passed. If you have driven past that building sitting empty, change is finally coming, and more housing supply on the north side is worth watching whether you are buying, selling, or just curious what that corner turns into. OK!toberfest Brings A Four Day German Festival To The Fairgrounds
OK!toberfest runs Thursday through Sunday, October 15 to 18, at OKC Fairgrounds. Expect German beer and wine, brats, sauerkraut, and the full festival atmosphere, no drive to Tulsa required. It is a good call for a date night or a weekend plan with friends. (OKC Mom Calendar)
Haunt The Zoo Hits Its Second Weekend, Rain Or Shine
Haunt the Zoo runs its second weekend Saturday and Sunday, October 17 and 18, and the zoo is staying open even if it rains. News 9 anchors will be greeting families from 11am to 1pm on Saturday. If you missed opening weekend, treat bags are $10 and this is your next chance. (News 9)
A New Chick-fil-A Opens In North Edmond
A new Chick-fil-A opened at Covell and Sooner in north Edmond on October 8. If you live out that way, it is one more everyday convenience close to home, and one more sign of how much is still building out in that part of town. (Hoodline)
Mortgage Rates Climb To Their Highest Since November 2023
Mortgage rates climbed again this week, with the 30 year fixed now averaging 7.4 percent, up from 7.28 percent last week. That is the second straight week we have watched it climb, and the highest it has been since November 2023. If you are shopping right now, that is worth a real conversation before you assume you are priced out or that you should just wait it out. (Trading Economics)
Let's Just Tell It Like It Is
A new project on the north side, a German festival, and a second shot at the zoo, there is no excuse to stay home this week. If any of this has you thinking about what is next, whether that is buying, selling, or just figuring out what your house is worth with rates doing this, I’ll listen first, then we’ll figure out the plan together. You don’t have to be an expert on any of it. That’s my job.
